How did you get into Crossfit?

I started because I signed up for an Ironman. I knew I had the endurance but wanted to it put some strength behind it...4+ years later still going at it.

What are some of the benefits you have seen from doing CrossFit?

I can see more than 1 ab and I actually have leg muscles.

What do you love most about CrossFit?

Constantly varied... Rarely do I see/do a workout I've done before.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone starting CrossFit?

Be patient. I remember being a beginner, not that I'm a superstar now, but for example I remember not being able to get more than a handful of double unders in a row... Now I can consistently get 100+ unbroken. Stick with it and results will follow.

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit Downtown Atlanta?

Watching others stick with it and improve, witnessing PRs, and the atmosphere - everyone seems to be in it together.

What are some things you like to do outside of CrossFit?

Travel, go to festivals, enjoy a sunny day on a patio, bike, hike.

What’s some advice you’d like to give to our members?

Don't do school, drink your drugs, stay in sleep, and make sure you get 8 hours of milk a night

Where does your passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle come from?

I want to look good naked

Why do you coach, what motivates you to teach?

I'm an engineer, I like constructing and deconstructing the functional movements that make up typical workouts

What do you think separates a great coach from a good coach, and a good coach from a poor coach?


What is a typical day in the life?

Wake up, go to work, poop (at work so I get paid for it), eat my prepared lunch at my desk, sprinkle in a couple edits to the upcoming programming, sneak out of work to make the 5:30p WOD, WOD, dinner, Netflix, bed

Watching something click

I'm the oldest of 6 kids

R-rated strength training that gets changed when others hear the lyrics

Completed Ironman Florida 2012 (~13hr21min)
