How did you get into CrossFit?
A friend from grad school asked me to try a class with him and I was immediately hooked.
What motivates your passion for fitness and healthy living?
Fitness and healthy living go hand-in-hand for me. As a Type 1 Diabetic, having both are critical to maintaining my health. My love for fitness was found at a young age when I started playing basketball. Basketball consumed most of my adolescent and young adult years, playing for a Division I college and professionally in Europe for two seasons. Since then CrossFit has filled my competitive fitness void. I can’t imagine my life without a regular sweat sess!
What are some of the benefits you have seen from doing CrossFit?
Besides looking good naked? 1. The community. I have the most amazing support system from friendships started at CrossFit gyms. 2. Increased self-esteem and body positivity from a movement (CrossFit) that has made being a strong and muscular female beautiful in the eyes of so many. Traps are the new tits (can I say that on here?) 3. Overall health improvement, both physical and mental.
Why do you coach, and what motivates you to teach?
I love my experience coaching basketball as well as teaching undergraduate psychology courses, and am excited to be afforded the opportunity to continue helping others at CFDA as they grow in their personal fitness journeys.
What is your favorite food?
Very few things make me more happy than a big juicy burger!
What are some things you like to do outside of CrossFit?
Travel. Be outdoors. Walk my dog. Meet new people. Try new Bourbons (everything in moderation, right?)
